The Golden Chariot Pride of the South Itinerary
Day 1: Monday - Bangalore

Upon your arrival in the city of Bangalore, you can check in at the hotel Taj West End. A high tea will be organized for all guests aboard the Pride of the South itinerary. Thereafter, guests will be taken to the Chitrakala Parishad where you can enjoy an exclusive cultural show. Alternatively, you can take delight in an eco-vacation by checking in at Our Native Village. Apart from natural beauty, guests can enjoy a cultural extravaganza before they start their sojourn.

Out of the above 2 alternatives, you will be required to report at the Yeshwanthpur Railway Station by 8:00 PM where the Pride of the South begins. Following a traditional welcome by the train staff, you will be ushered to the royal train cabins and move out of the Bangalore. Dinner and overnight stay on board the train.


Day 2: Tuesday - Kabini / Bandipur

Early morning, after breakfast, depart from Kabini/Bandipur. Here you will explore the wildlife environs of Kabini/Bandipur. By 01:00 hrs, you will reach Kabini. Post lunch in the jungle lodge, you will head straight to the Bandipur National Park. Dinner and overnight stay in the jungle resort.


Day 3: Wednesday - Mysore

On the 3rd day, in the morning, you will start your journey towards Mysore, the next destination in line. After breakfast, you will begin your journey towards Mysore. En-route, you will halt for lunch. The paddy fields that you will cross by, the locals, and most importantly the natural beauty of the region will leave you fascinated.

By afternoon, arrive in Mysore and immediately set off for sightseeing across the city. The attractions of Srirangapatna and Brindavan Gardens are the locations that you will visit. The day will conclude after you'll visit the Lalita Mahal Palace where you can enjoy sumptuous dinner and a cultural performance.


Day 4: Tuesday - Hassan

On the 4th day of the sojourn, guests on board the Pride of the South itinerary will head towards Hassan, a famous Indian destination noted for its spiritual importance. It is the first destination that you will head to. Thereafter, return back to the train and proceed for Halebid and Belur. By 7: 15 PM, return back to the Golden Chariot and leave for the next destination 'Hospet'.


Day 5: Friday - Hospet

Today, in the morning, you will arrive in Hospet, the gateway to the ruins of Hampi. Visit the topmost attractions of the place which include the Virupaksha Temple, the Elephant's stables and the local crafts bazaar. By 3:00 PM, disembark the train and explore the remaining attractions in Hampi which include the Vittala Temple, the Hazara Rama Temple and the royal enclosure. By 8:00 PM, arrive in the train for dinner and night stay.


Day 6: Saturday - Badami

In the morning, around 5:00 AM, the train will leave towards Badami from Hospet. In the morning, enjoy breakfast served on board the train and reach Badami by 9:00 AM. Thereafter, set out of the train to explore the popular tourist attractions such as Pattadakal and Badami Caves and return back to the train by 1:00 PM. Post lunch, leave for Goa, the 'Beach Capital of India'.

Spend the rest of the 6th day by exploring the luxury amenities of the train. Dinner will be served on board the train before it finally reaches Goa.


Day 7: Sunday - Goa

Early morning, embark on a sightseeing trip across Goa. Leave the train by 10:00 hours and start off the trail of Goa by visiting the churches. Later, proceed towards the Old Portuguese house-Sola Souto Maior. Savor tea & cookies while you marvel in awe at the artistic beauty of this house. Halt for a sumptuous Goan lunch. In the afternoon, indulge in leisure activities in the hotel pool. You may even relax for an Ayurvedic session.


Day 8: Monday - Bangalore

The Golden Chariot Southern Splendour Itinerary
Day 1: Monday - Bangalore

On reaching the city you precede to report at the Taj West End, the hotel is known for their hospitality. Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka is one of the best cities in the south. The climate is what will appeal the visitors at first as it is fairly moderate. The city is also called the "Garden City" as it has plenty of beautiful gardens and lakes for the visitors. You can hop around places like Commercial Street, Brigade road and many more. In the evening you will assemble at the Bangalore Railway Station, and will be welcomed traditionally. You are escorted to your respected cabins and the beginning of the Southern Splendour, journey starts.


The 1st day timings:

03.00 PM : Rreporting at the Taj West End and if followed by the procession of several traditional programs.

08.15 hrs : Boarding of the Golden Chariot and leave by 9:00 pm for Chennai.


Day 2, Chennai/ Mamallapuram

By early morning, the guests will reach Chennai, and breakfast will be served on board. The second day is planned for a short trip to a seaside spot, Mamallapuram about 60 km from Chennai. Mamallapuram is an old historic town and has now become the major attraction spot. This place was an important seaport of the ancient Pallava kingdom. The highlight of this place is the UNESCO World Heritage site of the sea shore temple, the temple is now a reconstruction after it was struck by a cyclone. However, nothing can change the historical importance of the structure. After the sightseeing, lunch is served at the seashore resort and the guests can take some rest. Later departure for the Puducherry Railway Station is fixed by road; the train will be halting overnight.


The 2nd day timings:

07.30 AM The train arrives at Chennai.

08.00 AM: Breakfast is served on board.

10.00 AM: Leave for Mamallapuram

1.30 PM: After sightseeing, lunch at Radisson Blu Temple Bay Hotel.

5.00 PM : depart for Puducherry after some rest at the resort.


Day 3: Puducherry

After breakfast which will be served on board, the exploration of this former French Colony begins. The guests are taken to the spiritual community of the Auroville Ashram. You can walk around and come across the highlight of the place, Mantrimandir and do some shopping too. After the first half of the day, the guests halt for lunch at a nearby hotel.Then the other half of the day is planned for visitation to the Ganesh temple and stroll along the beaches of Puducherry. The third day comes to end when the guests return on board and dinner is served.

Morning of the fourth day, the train arrives at the Tanjavur station, and breakfast is served. The city of Tanjavur lies in the state of Tamil Nadu and is an important center of religion, art and architecture. The UNESCO World Heritage Monuments are located in and around this region. One of the most famous temples is the Brihadeeswara temple.after lunch; the second half of the day begins, the guests leave for a nearby place, Trinchy. This place is located along the banks of the Kaveri River, and is home to some chief temples. The city is crowded and busy, and visitation of all the temples is not possible in a day. Mostly the temples of Trinchy are in and around Srirangam, The Ranganathaswamy temple is popular.


The 4rd day timings:

07.30 AM : Arrive at Tanjavur station

08.00 AM : Breakfast is served on board

10.00 AM : Visit the UNESCO Heritage site, the Brihadeeswara temple

02.00 PM : Lunch is offered in a River View Resort

Day 5, Madurai

After breakfast, the visit to the famous Madhurai Meenakshi Sudareswara Temple is planned out for you. The city of Madhurai is the soul of the state of Tamil Nadu, it is also known as Thoonga Nagaram which means the city that never sleeps. The city attracts a number of tourists who loves the view of the popular Meenakshi Amman Temple. The place is where the Tamil- roots are linked. There are various museums around the city and meant for your visit, during the evening you are displayed by the sound and light show of the Thirumalai Nayak Palace.


The 5nd day timings:

08.30 AM Breakfast is served on board.

10.00 AM: Visit to Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswara Temple

11.30 PM: Visit the 1000 pillar temple and the museum

01.00 AM: On board The Golden Chariot, for lunch

Day 6, Kanyakumari/ Kovalam

Early in the morning, the guests depart to the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari to witness the sunrise. The activities of the day further commence after the breakfast is served on board, followed by the visitation to Padmanabhapuram Wooden Palace. Kanyakumari hols its own charm for it is the place where the land ends and it is here at certain times you can see the sun set and the moon rise over three seas. The idea of the end land attracts the tourists the most about the place. The exploration continues after lunch on board, in a while you reach the state of Kerala. The capital city of Thiruvananthapuram welcomes you with its coastal charm. The region of a village called Kovalam is very pretty and peaceful, an arrangement has been made here for your refreshments. Later at night you have to return to the train.

After lunch the guests depart for Kochi fort and other sightseeing destinations. The day ends as usual after returning back to the train. It leaves for Bangalore while dinner is being served.
